Let's Hear it for Love!

Yes, it's February, and a young person's fancy turns to thoughts of love. Well, actually, so do the fancies of old people, but we're talking about our friend Dan Thompson here, who as an 18-year-old college freshman, I think we can definitely consider to be a young person; and in this month's story, Lunch with Laurie, he's definitely thinking of love.

Getting with "The Program"

It's a new month, and even a new year. This means it's time for a new story. And yes, for all of his fans, it's another one about Dan Thompson.

The Program is a story of how Dan finds sympathy and learns an important lesson from a very unexpected source as he deals with the fact that a friend of his is dying. My wife said that she cried at the end. I hope that's a good thing.

A Christmas Miracle

December is here, and it's time for a new story. In fact, it's a story especially written for this month, and as usual, it's available for both Nook and Kindle devices. The links are below.

So Many Ideas, So Little Time

Well, so far people seem to like the Dan Thompson stories, so it looks like I'll be writing more. I've got tons of ideas in my head, but you wouldn't believe how long it takes to get a short story just right.

But not to worry, I've got more coming, and here's a teaser about some of the possible ones coming up: The Program, TMI, Pizza with Anchovies, 20 Candles, and A Christmas Miracle.

No iBooks Version?

Well, as much as I'd like to have a version of The Restraining Order, and all my subsequent short stories, available that's directly readable in Apple's iBooks app, that won't be happening for a while because of the requirement that I have an ISBN for each "book."

The process for getting an ISBN isn't all that hard, but it is $25 per title, and so far, I've only sold 13 copies of the first story.

I know, it's a chicken/egg thing. Will making the stories directly available to users of iOS devices bring me to a larger audience, and end up paying for itself and then some? I'd certainly like to think that. I'll see how the next story does, and then decide.

A Little Encouragement

Well, not only have I gotten a great review on Amazon's website, but I got encouragement from one of the toughest audiences out there…my nine-year-old daughter. She laughed her head off as Cheryl and I read The Restraining Order to her as a bedtime story. I assured her that there would be more stories coming, so next month look out for Plum Tree Road.

In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to make my stories available through the iTunes Store for iBooks on all of Apple's iOS devices. That should give me an even greater audience.
